CHESHIRE RONDE ON/OFF ROAD SPORTIVE
SUNDAY 22nd September 2013

Welcome to a brand new event the Cheshire Ronde. The Cheshire Ronde is an On Roadf/Off Road Sportive sometimes called  (Cyclo X Sportive ) taking riders on a tour of Cheshire's hidden highways. We have spent months tracking down unmade roads, country highways, bridle paths, disused railway lines, cobbled climbs, cobbled roads, cobbled descents, gravel roads to bring you  this unique event.

Designed by experienced local club riders this challenging event has been designed for road bikes, hybryd bikes, mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes and even fixies. The routes have something for everyone. Each bike type will have an advantage or disadvantage at some part of the course. The route can be ridden on a normal road bike with 25mm tyres with a descent tread although we would not recommend you to use your best carbon frame and carbon wheeled bike. Your winter bike or training bike would be perfect. Mountain Bikes are good although you have to bear in mind there are also road sections so too are Cyclo Cross bikes and Hybrids.

We have three distances to suit all abilities 100km , 70km and 40 km

The venue is Poynton Leisure Centre which is one of our favourites the staff are always extremely helpful. It also a great location as its very close to Middlewood Way which is one of the main features of the event. We also take you past Manchester Airport as you have never seen it before. We use one of the emergency roads that runs parallel to the runway. We also have the notorious ascent of Swiss Hill a much feared cobbled climb very similar to the Belgian climbs in the Tour of Flanders.

We will have High 5 Feeding Stations at strategic key points along the route to keep your energy levels up. We will also have the usual free tea and coffee at registration along with free tea and coffee, hotdogs and our famous fruit cake when you return from your ride.

Our commentator Ray will once again be at the event. Ray has his own style of commentating and has a great banter with the riders.

We will once again be giving out free custom sports drinks bottles specially designed for the event along with free posters.
